CONVERSATION EXCHANGE. ABOUT US

I’m Mª Angeles León, the founder of the MyHOSTpitality project. For more than 15 years, I worked in a huge multinational company in the consultancy sector, but some months ago I decided to change my career and with a lot of effort and excitement I initiated the creation of the MyHOSTpitality community.

Our community is born out of my inquisitive nature, my passion for travel and my personal experiences.

My travel experiences

On the one hand, the two life-changing big trips I took in 2001 and 2006 after asking for sabbaticals from the company I worked for. On the first trip, I travelled alone around Australia and New Zealand for 6 months. On the second, I dedicated a year of my life to travelling around the world with my partner. These trips determined the way I see the world and how I travel.

My experiences in collaborative communities to exchange consumption Homes

On the other hand, I am a member of the collaborative collection communities, in particular those which allow you to organise house exchanges between families. This has allowed my family and me to see fabulous places and, at the same time, other families have been able to see Madrid and Spain while staying in our house.

My experiences as a mother

And finally, the experience of a lifetime as a mother of two children, one of 6 (Enrique) and one of 4 (Maria) Here, I leave you with something my son said this summer on our last day in Sardinia. It’s not just because he’s my son but I think the reflection is great, don’t you?

All these experiences have made me see the importance that knowing other languages and cultures has, as much for the personal development of young people and all citizens in general, as in the preparation for access to and progress within the working world. Besides, learning to speak foreign languages is an act of cultural generosity of knowing the rich variety of the world; it’s recognition of the fact that there are many, many different ways of living and of expressing oneself.

To finish, some charming words from Nelson Mandela, South African politician and Nobel Prize winner.

"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."

If you like our values and you’d like to learn new languages, come and look at our options, we’re sure there’s one for you:
