Learning languages not always is easy, MyHOSTpitality wants to help you thanks to their posts. That’s why this summer we are writing about international festivals so you can attend to them, learn languages and discover different cultures.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and during the month of August, it becomes a synonym of the festival. It is characterized by its International Festival.
The International Festival of Edinburgh is the most important event that takes place in the Scottish capital. Every summer it gathers thousands of visitors. The festival emerged in 1947 as a cultural event to gather up artists and audiences from all over the world. It lasts three weeks, from the 5th to the 29th of August. The city takes artists of all kinds in, with music shows, theatre, dance, and comedy. The streets are filled with performances, tourists, and craft stands.
The festival ends the 29th of August with the Fireworks Concert, a great fireworks show. At the same time, there’s a concert of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. You have to pay for the tickets, although there are people that prefer to stand in the surrounding areas and listen to it on the radio.
In this festival, you can find the best artists in the world of dance, classic music, contemporary music, opera, and theatre. The performances are for free and by payment and last until dawn.
The most important theatres and concert halls of Edinburgh are the main references where there are daily performances. But also in small stores, taverns or shops different performances are offered.
In this city, we can come up with festivals from June until the beginning of September, but the special ones are in August. The topics are similar between each other and are celebrated on stages, in theatres, shops, schools, churches, concert halls, and universities.
When we refer to the Edinburgh Festival we cannot talk about a single festival, there are more than one in the same city and some of them are celebrated at the same time. 15th 26th
